Starlit Grave

Homeless and Hopeless

I learned my name from a star that was dead
Light took its time just to lie in my head
Time let me form then it let me go
Like a thought the void said no

When the sky exhales I'm gone
Not a trace not a bone
I was here then never was me
Just shape falling out of memory

I learned I was drift, not design
A passing glitch in borrowed time
No center point, no marked delay
Just signal loss along the way

I learned the light won't hesitate
No missing beat, no altered state
The stars will hum, the dark will stay
And I will simply fall away
into the black
The black doesn't shout back
Not a trace not a bone
I was here then never was me
Just shape falling out of memory

I learned the weight of an endless sky
How small a life looks passing by
That hope is just a temporary shape
Drawn in chalk on a tidal wave

I learned time does not forgive
It only moves, it does not live
Every moment quietly decays
Even love has an expiration date

I learned the stars don't watch or care
They burn because they must be there
No witness waits beyond the dark
Just fading heat and failing spark
When the sky exhales I'm gone
Not a trace not a bone
I was here then never was me
Just shape falling out of memory

I learned my ending long before
The day I asked what living's for
Not with words, but with the sound
Of silence closing in around

I learned the future is already gone
A shadow cast before the dawn
That choice is just a slower fall
With different names but one last wall

When the sky exhales I'm gone
Not a trace not a bone
I was here then never was me
Just shape falling out of memory

I learned no one is coming back for me
No hidden hand, no memory
That even grief will let me go
When I become what no one knows

I learned my life won't leave a scar
On time, on space, on anything that matters
I will end like breath on glass
Gone before it

I learned the world will not notice the day
My voice finally gives up its shape
That my absence weighs exactly the same
As before I ever came

I learned even my name will decay
On tongues that once learned how to say it
Love will loosen, memory will thin
Until I am nothing anyone's been
